Kitchin Group has finally brought the ever popular 'From Nature to Plate' philosophy to Edinburgh's southside following the popularity of its sister restaurants; The Kitchin, Castle Terrace and The Scran & Scallie.
The beautiful dining room at Southside Scran features an open Maestro Rotisserie grill showcasing local produce. The Southside menu is a real tribute to the best of Scotland’s larder displaying a love and passion for French cuisine.
Southside Scran showcases a new stylish addition to the vibrant neighbourhood area of Bruntsfield. In a nod to the traditional French bistro style of dining, the bar and restaurant interior designed by Michaela Kitchin and Stephen Paterson feature warm green tones and colours with brass accents with rustic wooden floors and tiles throughout. During the day, the restaurant is surrounded by light streaming through the large street windows on Bruntsfield Place. At night time the restaurant is intimate and cosy, displaying bespoke lighting and a roaring fireplace in the bar area.
Featuring twists on classic bistro seating, using a variation of different textures, materials and fabrics the dining room the restaurant proudly also displays a grand Maestro Rotisserie on centre stage for daily cuts of meat, fish and vegetables.
Chef Tom Kitchin, his wife and business partner Michaela along with their team have long been looking for the perfect site to bring a new exciting bistro venue to the south side of Edinburgh. After extensive refurbishment and renovations, Southside proudly opened its doors in November 2018.
The menu at Southside Scran reflects Chef Kitchin and Chef Dominic Jack's sincere passion for seasonal produce and their shared love of France and its cuisine. The Rotisserie grill in the room presents diners with a daily selection of meat, fish and vegetables. The bistro setting encourages guests to share side dishes and salads with the entire table for that special family and friend approach to dining.
Head Chef Craig McKenzie, who has worked with Chef Kitchin for 7 years is heading up the kitchen team of chefs and Jonathan Demyttenaere, previously Restaurant Manager of The Kitchin is leading the Front of House team at Southside Scran.
